Verizon Makes Plans for San Jose Headquarters

As the wave of companies moving offices to downtown San Jose grows, more and more companies are jumping on for the ride. The latest of which is Verizon Communications Inc. Verizon plans to set up a new campus for 3,400 employees in the new Coleman Highline development.

Verizon is expected to co-develop and then lease out 640,000 square feet within multiple buildings at the Coleman Highline. According to Verizon Media CEO GURU Gowrappan, “This move will allow us to build a fully customized and sustainable new campus from scratch with employee’s being a part of this journey helping to design their workplace of the future […]”

The Coleman Highline development is being built in phases with final completion slated for 2021. The project architect, San Jose-based Gensler, created plans for the 1.75 million square foot development to include eight office buildings, three amenity buildings, two hotels, and retail space. The project is conveniently located approximately .5 miles from the Santa Clara Caltrain station and adjacent to San Jose’s international airport.

“By moving their operations into the greater downtown, Verizon’s 3,400 employees gain the opportunity to work where they live and play near world-class transit, entertainment, and retail amenities,” San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo said in a statement.

This development is already slated to house the new headquarters for Roku Inc. with groundbreaking scheduled for fall of this year.
