New Affordable Housing Tower Proposed for Downtown’s Sofa District

A new tower has been proposed for Downtown San Jose’s artsy SoFA District. This 358-unit project comes with a twist, it is proposing to be entirely composed of affordable housing units. The scope of the proposed development makes is one of the largest affordable housing projects in the Bay Area and would add significant foot traffic to the downtown core.

The proposal for the tower contains 190 studio units, 84 one-bedroom units, 28 two-bedroom units, and 56 three-bedroom units. Additionally, the development would include a three-story parking structure with 96 parking spaces.

This development is still in the early stages of proposal and it will be interesting to watch as the plans continue to evolve.
