Cirque Du Soleil’s Totem

The latest show from Cirque du Soleil is a fascinating journey about the evolution of mankind. TOTEM follows the journey of the human species from its original amphibian state to its ultimate desire to fly. Somewhere between science and legend TOTEM explores the ties that bind Man to other species, his dreams and his infinite potential. The characters evolve on a stage evoking a giant turtle, the symbol of origin for many ancient civilizations. Some of the characters we are introduced to include the Amerindian Dancer who takes us on a magical trip tracing the history of the evolution of species; the Crystal Man who comes from space to spark life on Earth; the Scientist who dazzles with extraordinary physics experiments; and the Tracker who guides the Scientist in his explorations and eventually transforms into a toreador. TOTEM runs now thru April 15 under the Grand Chapiteau on the Taylor Street Bridge in downtown San Jose.
