Adobe Expansion Breaks Ground in Downtown San Jose

Adobe has officially made progress with the plans for the expansion of its existing downtown campus. Last week the tech giant broke ground at the site where their fourth tower will reside. In the planning stages, Adobe was contending with flight path limitations and subsequently designed a massive 18-story tower that is effectively the width of three buildings side-by-side. The flight path constraints forced Adobe to rethink the standard high-rise model and get creative to house an additional 3,000-4,000 employees.

This new tower, currently dubbed “North Tower”, will offer 1.3 million square feet of office, retail, and parking. A tree-lined bridge with seating areas will connect the existing Adobe towers to the new “North Tower.” The drawings also show a rooftop recreation area overlooking the Santa Cruz mountains.

Adobe was one of the first tech companies to invest in downtown San Jose and, with other tech giants beginning to catch on and follow suit, it is promising to see that Adobe is doubling down on their original investment with this expansion plan. This contemporary, eye-catching design will have an incredible impact on the downtown skyline. The development is currently projected to be completed by 2022.
