Hopeful for approval in October, Insight Realty Co. wants to turn plans into action at Railyard Place (formerly known as Lenzen/College Park Railyards) in Downtown San Jose off of Coleman Ave. and Highway 87. Right on the outskirts of Downtown San Jose and next to the PG&E substation and Union Pacific Railroad, this 10.6 acre piece of land near the San Jose Market Center would include office space (totaling around 250,000 square feet) with large open floor plans and 18-foot high ceilings and apartments (totaling in around 600 units in buildings as tall as eight stories). In addition to the mixed-used office and apartment spaces, the developer aims to build a $5 million bridge over the Guadalupe River to connect to Autumn Street thus bringing more people to the area and livening it up.
The Railyard Place project would be located across Coleman Avenue from the San Jose Rotary Playgarden and according to Insight Realty would be “a gateway development from the north to fast growing downtown San Jose.” With this locationm, the Railyard Place project will easily be a pedestrian/bike-oriented person’s dream!
